2014 Directors Series on The 90 Degree Show

We would like to introduce a new Director Series Podcast to broadcast in the Spring of 2014 on The 90 Degree Show. The fans of the show have spoken, and they are saying that there needs to be more discussion about bands outside of just marching season. The other parts of the year are intricate to what we see in the fall and vice versa. To lead this discussion, we introduce Dr. Kevin O. Davenport Ed.S. & Ed.D.

Dr. Kevin O. Davenport Ed.S. & Ed.D has spent 22 years in music education. He has taught all levels of band from elementary school to college, including 10 years as Director of Bands at IC Norcom High School in Portsmouth, VA – his Alma mater.  While there, he built the marching band program from thirty-two members to two hundred in a school that had only six hundred students.
He has also served as Associate Director of Bands at Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN where he was professor of Music Education for undergraduate and graduate courses. Dr. Davenport also has a website that you can view here.
The new Director Series podcast will be in four parts:

We would like to thank Block Band Music for the vision and lead in sponsoring this podcast. Their presence gives us the validity of music education, which is crucial to this field. We hope to target and gain more directors as fans of the network and hope they can use this to connect with students across the globe.

100 Broadcasts and Running!

304417_333112973452902_1444244306_nWe are proud to announce another milestone here at The Marching Podcast Network. On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, we will be broadcasting our 100th episode on The Marching Podcast Network: Chop It Up with Joshua Cousin. We are blessed and honored to reach this milestone and would not have done it without the listeners and our entire staff. We also want to give thanks to all the people that have broadcast shows on our network and all the people that helped with each broadcast directly and indirectly.

We want The Marching Podcast to be a series of positive podcasts that help inspire young people to do great things and make a balanced decision concerning the college they choose to attend. It it also for the adults to have a platform to reach these young people and be a positive benchmark for the rest of the world. Our passion is to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). We strive to provide scholarships to help increase the number of scholarships available and create excitement for HBCU’s. Similar to The Cosby Show and A Different World, we want The Marching Podcast to be that beacon of light and prosperity.

Each podcast has helped with the growth of the network and has also helped bring more listeners to a variety of our network’s other shows. At this time, I want to attempt to say “thanks” to everyone. Thank you to all the shows that have broadcast on The Marching Podcast Network, the people that have helped with audio quality and creative presentation, and last but not least our sponsors and patrons that allow us to broadcast during peak hours (please see the list below for more details). Special thanks to Collin Welbon our Director of Editing, who just recently boosted his career by taking a new job editing for a software company where he lives in San Francisco but will still be able to edit our posts. Another special thanks to all the experts that call in and help me host the 90 Degree Show.

I am very excited to announce that The Marching Podcast will be upgrading its service with Blog Talk Radio. This change will allow us to be able to broadcast 45 min, 60 min, 90 min and 120 min shows. This gives us a lot more flexibility and the opportunity to spend more time (beyond the current 30 min time window) depending on the topic of the show. We are also happy to announce that the times for the show will be changing to prime time hours. Prime time hours is the block of time when most people in the country are at home on their computers doing work, surfing the internet, listening to podcasts, etc. Prime time hours on Blog Talk Radio are from 7 PM (EST) to 11 PM (EST). The Marching Podcast will start to broadcast its shows during this peak time with hopes of getting more listeners, especially during the work week. Blog Talk Radio will also market the show 5,000 times per month on their website to help grow listeners. The time slot for the shows will be TBA.

This service is a paid service to enable all of the functionality stated above. To pay for this effort, we are proud to introduce our new team of sponsors that will be helping to improve the show and also get their businesses out to more people. A win-win situation as they say. The sponsors will help pay for the monthly service and in return we will promote their businesses through commercials on our show, as well as through Facebook and Twitter. In addition, we will create merchandise for each company through our apparel store: Marching Podcast Nalia.

At this time, we do not want to open the flood gates for all sponsors, but we want to plug the businesses that we believe in here at The Marching Podcast, and businesses that we want to see grow and stand for the same principles and benefits that have surrounded The Marching Podcast since its inception. We would like to introduce our first team of sponsors for The Marching Podcast. Please check out their information below, and we thank them very much for their support. Combining our forces is not only a blessing but a blueprint for our young people to follow.
